What is the Treatment for Acne Vulgaris?

Some types of acne vulgaris such as neonatal acne do not require any treatment as they resolve spontaneously.

For those types that do require treatment, acne vulgaris treatments can be divided into:
1. Medical treatment
2. Intra-lesional injections
3. Surgical treatment

Medical treatment for acne vulgaris includes the use of:
a) Retinoids which are applied on the skin such as tretinoin, adapalene and tazarotene as they decrease the numbers of black heads, white heads, papules and pustules.
